18 Jul How to Know If You’re Ready for Yoga Teacher Training
If you’ve been searching for signs that yoga teacher training might be right for you, this story from Warrior One Yoga’s community might be exactly what you need to hear.
Recently, we sat down at our Mordialloc studio with Amanda—one of our past students—who opened up about her own experience: how long she thought about signing up, how she made it work with work and family, and how it changed her practice and life far beyond the mat.
Amanda first heard about our yoga teacher training back in 2020. Like so many students, she sat with the idea for years. “I knew I loved yoga—that was the bottom line. But life was busy, and it took me until 2023 to finally jump in.”
If you’ve ever wondered Am I ready for yoga teacher training? Amanda’s story is living proof that the perfect moment rarely arrives on its own—you create it by saying yes.
It’s Not Just About Poses
One of the biggest surprises for Amanda was realising just how much more there is to learn, no matter how long you’ve been practising.
“I thought I knew yoga,” she laughs. “I didn’t. I learned to break down every pose, understand safe alignment, and teach in ways that support people’s bodies. My practice just grew so much.”
The takeaway? Yoga teacher training isn’t just for aspiring teachers—it’s for anyone ready to deepen their knowledge and come home to themselves.
Growth Beyond the Mat
For Amanda, the highlight wasn’t just the technical learning—it was the personal growth.
“As adults, we don’t often give ourselves permission to keep learning,” she says. “Teacher training felt like the best personal development you could ever do. I found my voice as a teacher, but also as a person.”
And it wasn’t just Amanda who benefited. “My kids saw me doing something for myself. They even helped me study Sanskrit. For me, that was huge—showing them what it looks like to commit to something you love.”
A Community That Stays With You
Another sign you might be ready for yoga teacher training? You’re craving a deeper sense of connection.
Amanda describes the friendships formed in training as unlike anything else: “You’re with people who are there for the same reason. You share things you might not even tell your closest friends. You cheer each other on, and that support stays with you long after graduation.”
Life After Graduation
Today, Amanda teaches a weekly class. “I love crafting sequences, thinking about what we’re working on, what theme we’re exploring, or how I can weave in yoga philosophy. Teaching is my flow state—time disappears and I’m smiling the whole time.”
It’s proof that yoga teacher training doesn’t have to mean becoming a full-time teacher. For some, it’s about teaching once a week. For others, it’s purely about personal growth. “It’s honestly the greatest gift,” Amanda says.
If Not Now, When?
So, how do you know you’re ready for yoga teacher training? Amanda puts it simply: “Any barriers you’re putting up—chip away at them. Time will pass either way. You can either be where you are now, or you can be a certified teacher in just a few months. If not now, when?”
